Internal wall insulation is often a better option than external wall insulation, especially in older
period properties. In 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 1970’s properties, people often opt to have both internal
and external wall insulation done as their home energy upgrade . As with external wall insulation,
about 35% of a building’s heat loss is via the walls, so insulation is the key to keeping the heat in.
Internal wall insulation can also incorporate sound insulation, so you do not hear the noisy
neighbours. There are SEAI individual energy upgrade grants available as insulation grants to
qualifying houses.
